Orka Desktop 3.1 Release Notes

What’s New in the Release

  • Added a new display resolution sliders for standard or custom resolution sizes width vs. height in pixels.
  • Added Display DPI slider (Dots Per Inch) to control pixel density and VM display image sharpness.
  • Added Dynamic resolution toggle button to auto-scale resolution as the VM console display is either expanded or contracted using the mouse pointer.
  • Improved the Orka Desktop directory by merging it with Orka Engine, which uses a common source directory for VM images. Application installer will prompt to move VMs created in previous Orka Desktop versions into the new version 3.0 directory structure.
  • Improved the application Help, by linking it to the Orka Desktop Quick Start Guide.
  • Registry Push and Pull fields are now cached and persistent in the case of a failed Push or Pull attempts.

System Requirements

  • Apple M1 with 8GB RAM and 50GB disk space
  • macOS X 13.0+ (Ventura)

Known Issues

  • File transfers to and from OCI registries are impacted by free disk space on the local host machine. To ensure the highest possible transfer speed, ensure there is sufficient free disk space when executing a Push or Pull operation from Orka Desktop. For example, to perform a machine transfer of a VM with a 50GB raw/actual file size, ensure there is at least 75GB of free disk space on the local host machine.
  • Deploying Sequoia beta releases may result in the VM console rendering a blank screen.

WORKAROUND: Downgrade Sequoia MacOS to a previous working version.
